PCR stands as a beacon of excellence, innovation, and education in cardiovascular medicine.

The first in this series of PCR Seminars CIS–Russia, held in an in-person format, was successfully conducted in Moscow on October 21-22, 2021. The seminar was dedicated to the interventional treatment of complex coronary artery lesions, including bifurcations and chronic total occlusions (CTOs).

The format of the first seminar was based on the review of clinical cases, which is one of the most effective methods for presenting and teaching endovascular techniques for the treatment of atherosclerotic arterial disease. One case was presented by a faculty member of the PCR team, and one or two cases were presented by interventional cardiologists from Russia. Each session was followed by a discussion, critical appraisal of the presented material, and concluding remarks.

The PCR seminar dedicated to left main stenosis brought together around 250 participants in Kazakhstan's largest city. The event was led by PCR faculty members Martine Gilard (France) and Marko Noc (Slovenia), together with seven highly experienced regional experts representing Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

The comprehensive and practice-oriented program focused on key aspects of left main intervention, including the culotte technique, DK-crush strategy, and management of left main disease in the setting of acute coronary syndromes. In addition, local operators shared illustrative and memorable bifurcation cases. The seminar was built around a step-by-step clinical reasoning methodology and highly interactive case-based discussions, promoting active debate and meaningful exchange between faculty and participants. Simultaneous translation further enhanced engagement and accessibility.

Participants highly valued this unique educational experience, which deepened their understanding of the specific challenges associated with left main bifurcation lesions. Particular emphasis was placed on optimal decision-making, the role of imaging, and tailoring treatment strategies to individual clinical scenarios.

Despite challenges that paused our seminars in 2021, we are now poised to hold annual seminars in major CIS cities, starting in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

In upcoming editions in 2025, we further plan to expand to Yerevan, Armenia.

By uniting forces, we aim to build a robust community that transfers knowledge to the next generation and fosters collaboration among top surgeons, establishing PCR-CIS as a new pillar in the PCR curriculum.
